About Me
My name is Daniel Rimmelzwaan, and I founded RIS Plus on July 1st, 2007. My goal is to provide independent services related to Microsoft Dynamics NAV, in a variety of specialized areas such as SQL Server performance, and helping get Escalated Accounts back on track. One of my targetgroups is the Microsoft Dynamics NAV partner channel, where expertise in these areas is not always at hand. I will also engage with end users directly, for instance to provide a second opinion about a proposal, or to help as an independent consultant on an escalated account. As a rule I will want to make the relationship known to the partner.
Due to my involvement in the online community, I was awarded the Microsoft Most Valuable Professional Award in July of 2005. Click here to read more about the MVP program, and click here or browse the awardees directory to read my profile.
I started my NAV development career in April 2000. Over the course of more than 7 years, I was promoted a number of times, and have been responsible for all aspects of the development process, including gathering requirements, analysis and design. At the time that I founded RIS Plus, my job title was Software Development Project Manager, which also included Team Lead responsibilities for a small team of developers. I was also responsible for localizing vertical solutions for the US market, including 6 major vertical products.
The more interesting projects were integrations to external applications, such as shop floor systems, warehouse management systems, Microsoft CRM, Biztalk, and others. These integration projects, as well as a few web application projects, have given me exposure to some industry standard development tools, like Visual Studio.NET, and the SQL Server tools.
Over the last few years, I had become more involved in escalated accounts, where I was engaged to assess the situation and get customers back on track for a successful implementation. I pride myself in being able to help retain most of those accounts, and one account we did lose returned after a few years.
The most successful of the escalated accounts were the ones that had performance issues on SQL Server, which has become one of my main strengths. At first, the analysis was done mostly manually, using the standard NAV tools such as the session monitor, the client monitor and the developer toolkit. There are more sophisticated tools available now that help us analyze the situation much more quickly.
I decided to start RIS Plus because I feel that I can provide a much higher level of service to my customers as an independent consultant. I believe that there is a large market for my skills for the many Microsoft Dynamics partners who do not want the hassle of having to maintain expertise in these areas. By being able to focus only on these specialized areas, I feel I can be much more useful to the Microsoft Dynamics NAV partner channel and the user community.
